Of course all color markings printed in
black. In order to make markings I used sticky labels.
I printed all markings on the labels and
then attached them to the model pages. The
overall experience turned out to be better then expected.
The model looks very realistic, the paint
does not peal off and the markings stay strong. Prior to gluing
canopy and propeller I covered the whole model with two lawyers
of acrylic clear spray.
The canopy was made from plastic using
a vacuum technology that I borrowed from Mr. Sokolets and the
"canopy skeleton" was redesigned with added rivets.
Wheels made from Artist's mounting board
as recommended by Ron at http://www.cardmodels.net/phpbb2/kb.php?mode=article&k=11.
The nose cone was made of paper according to Mr. Sokolets technology
as well : http://paperwings.newmail.ru
Also during construction I added a radio,
which I build from scratch using various modeling magazines on
La 7 and La 11. In no way it represents an accurate detailing
of the radio.
Maybe Mr. Zarkov should release an upgrade
to this kit with more detailed canopy. Also I had to make a niche
for rear wheel. The original kit did not have it.
Now, anyone can may any "metallic"
looking plane. My next project is Nakajima Ki 115 and Thunderbolt
P 47. All repainted in Photo shop and printed on silver paper. |
This
model was build using a new technology invented by myself. :)
. I got the inspiration
after finding a tiny picture of La 11 on the internet in silver
color.
I looked for some silver paper in a local
art stores, but cold not find anything. So I decided to make my
own. I used Paint spray
from Canadian Tire for auto repairs. It is called Silver Diamond
For paper I used Epson photo paper matte
44lb. The trick was not
to spray too much paint on the paper. Even little bit of paint
made it look like silver.
After I finished the paper, I printed
all pages using a laser printer. I tried using a jet printer but
the ink did not stay too well on the paper.
